The anti-cancer activity of ORCA-010 was tested in animal studies by treating human tumors growing in mice. For these studies, human prostate, lung, and ovarian cancer cells were injected under the skin of the mice. These cells then formed visible “established” tumors. Once these tumors had a size of 80 to 200 mm3, the mice were divided into two groups: tumors of the treatment group were injected with ORCA-010 and tumors of the control group were injected with a salt solution. In subsequent weeks, the size of the tumors were measured. The tumor growth curves of the treatment and control groups demonstrated strong inhibition of tumor growth by ORCA-010 in all three tumor types.
